How can I fake an English accent?

My English cl has been reading The Taming of the Shrew, and we're about to act out a scene from it. The Taming of the Shrew is a Shakespeare play, which means all of the characters are English. As we haven't chosen scenes and characters yet, I don't know whether I want to try and do a more posh accent or make it sound more lower cl. Part of our grade is going to be doing the accent, because its part of an "effort" thing. A lot of my friends can put on a pretty good accent because they had to learn how for theater, but I take art so I never learned how. Do any of y'all have any tips? I'm a Texan, by the way, although I don't think my Southern accent is that strong.
