If the planet is headed toward global warming then why is it so cold.?

First of all let me say that you’re not stupid for not understanding this, I didn't use to understand it and I still don't completely. The way I think it is is Global Warming is exactly what it is The hole world is getting warmer. You could take one place and still find that it can get really cold there for a really long time, but if you look on a global scale then you should find that on average the temperature would be getting warmer. The same thing goes for winters, if you look world wide than on average the worlds winters probably would be getting shorter and warmer, but you could still find places that are really cold for really long times. Global Warming is kind of the same thing as Global climate change, some of the effects of global warming cause other changes, like if Global warming stops the gulf stream then the UK will get a lot colder. Global Warming could cause a lot of different changes, some places might get more rain some places less, some places could also get more snow and someplaces will get less.
