If you are caught shoplifting, but you return your items (it was worth 120 dollars), will you get penalized?

I was caught shoplifitng, and they took my license plate number down but I returned the items (which was 3) back to them, and I told them I would never enter the store again. Will they still file a report against me or anything like that that will go on my record?
