Is this a good idea for a book/story?

It's a good idea, but how would a group of humans survive if the suns rays were blocked out? Scientists theorize that that was the downfall of the dinosaurs (after a meteorite hit the planet). Maybe you should put a little research into how it's possible. But other than that, I really like it :D
